a learning organization with the Pilipino American community

"I hold no grudge to any nationality or race because I respect the differences between people through their cultures,
and I think all efforts, energies, and money should be concentrated to serving the people instead of making profits..."
-- Philip Vera Cruz (1992)

The Project PULL Vision

Diverse communities of people, inspired by a sincere commitment to youth development, celebrating the richness of the Pilipino American experience and transforming institutions as the practice of their individual freedoms and shared humanity.

Project PULL continuously strives to be an effective catalyst for informed action, a valuable partner for individuals, educators, and community organizations, a compassionate forum for intergenerational dialogue and the sharing of ideas, and a credible vehicle for the investment of resources toward educational programs which benefit Pilipino American youth.

Mission

To build a community of learners and leaders through engaging in the innovative and effective application of community-based, academic, media, professional, spiritual, and technological resources toward projects which enrich the lives of Pilipino American young people and the communities in which they live, learn, and lead.

Objectives or "The 4 Pillars"

Project PULL strives to be a contributing and valued member of the community through the achievement of its primary objectives, also known as "pillars."

TO INFORM ... the community of efforts which enrich the lives of young people. Furthermore, Project PULL endeavors to be a resource and broker of information which will enhance the informed action of its allies, partners, and other advocates in youth development, organizing, or service.

TO INITIATE ... both original and supportive efforts in youth development, organizing, or service.

TO INVOLVE ... various members of the community at large in its efforts. Project PULL seeks diverse and inclusive involvement in collaborative projects.

TO INVEST ... time and resources in projects which will realize valuable and sustainable contributions in the long term so as to merit the worthy investment of private and public community resources.

Guiding Principles

Project PULL seeks to invest time and effort in projects which abide by the principles of PULL and PAVE -- projects which seek to build communities of learners and leaders as well as projects which promote mindful efforts to catalyze systemic change.

PULL -- People United through Learning and Leadership
PAVE -- Positive Action toward Visibility and Empowerment
